Georgetown

We drove up ~3000 ft to escape the heat, but we could not evade the rain. We were planning to do a short hike around Silver Dollar and Murray Lakes, where there are supposedly more than 100 different types of flowers and plants. Unfortunately, Guanella Pass going to the trail head was closed due to construction. All summer, the pass will be closed 8-11 a.m and 1-3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

We did tour the old mining town of Georgetown. My highlight was meeting the watercolor painter Karen Heber at the Georgetown Gallery of Fine Art. Her objective is to capture old barns before they all get torn down. I thought her contrasty paintings were really unique for watercolor. I also met the photographer Gary Haines at his gallery called Grizzly Creek Gallery. He told me now is a little too early for wildflowers at ~8K ft, so I didn't feel bad about missing the hike which would have been at ~11K ft.

Here are pictures of Brianna and Tigger having lunch at the Happy Hooker (uhum, Cooker). Thank you Mary Rose, for e-mailing them to me. One day I'll be able to afford internet on my cell phone.

Here's Brianna drowning her french toast. Later, we went to an ice cream parlor for dessert. Insulin, anyone?

Bad Tigger. Where'd she learn to beg?

I measured my O2 saturation during lab one day. O2 saturation is an indicator of how well your cells are taking up oxygen. Mine was 97% which is normal. I think that means I've acclimated to Denver's "the mile high city" elevation (5280 ft). There goes my excuse for having a really pathetic 1.1 mile run this morning.
